The music and art that we program is made infinitely better when it is grounded in principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA). As arts administrators, we curate our offerings to embrace art and artists of different genres and experiences, and seek to ensure fair access for all to enjoy and participate in our activities and operations. We have work to do to make this goal a reality, work that requires humility, courage, and commitment.

In order to make room for all voices to be heard we need to create forums to engage with individuals and groups in our community, especially those that are marginalized and under-represented, to better understand their needs and desires. In partnership with Island Mountain Arts, Coldsnap 2024 will host a facilitated “Northern IDEA’s” workshop, toward increasing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility in the Northern Arts community.

This conversation will be facilitated by Amy Blanding (Director of Inclusion, Equity, Diversity and Accessibility at Northern Health

This conversation is presented in partnership with the Coldsnap Music Festival and supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage.
