Songwriting Contest Winners AnouncedWinner of the Ken Whiteley Songwriting Contest Announced! Congratulations Glenna Garramone! The judges (Wells songwriters Bob Campbell, Joel Klinger and Yael Wand) have done the hard work of listening to nearly 50 entries for the contest to win a scholarship to IMA's four day Songwriting Workshop, July 27 - 30 with folk legend Ken Whiteley. Glenna Garramone from Victoria was chosen as the winner for her song "Bear Scat." Along with the scholarship, Glenna will be given a performance slot at the ArtsWells Festival and be interviewed by Sheryl MacKay on CBC Radio One's North by Northwest. Joe Nolan from Fort Saskatchewan was the runner up, also receiving a scholarship to the workshop, plus tickets to the festival. Honourable mentions went to Theresa Pasaluko, Iyan Bruvold, Karyn Ellis and Clayton Ward. Thanks to all who entered the contest!! And there is still space in Ken Whiteley's four day workshop for those out there wanting to delve further into the art of songwriting. |
