Kids Pottery and Visual Arts Day Camp (6 - 12)

Kids will be broken into two groups (Ages 6 - 8 & Ages 9-12). They will spend half the day working with clay and half the day doing visual arts with these two great instructors.
In the pottery workshop, with Williams Lake potter Lesley Lloyd, students will spend their time working with clay to create their own works of art through handbuilding and other techniques. Lesley will guide students through a number of projects and will bring her portable kiln to fire the new creations.
In the visual arts workshop with contemporary visual artist and teacher, Keith Langergraber students will focus on drawing – a vital practice that applies to all mediums, sculpture - through the use of found and recyclable materials, and basic forms of printmaking. Keith will emphasize a hands-on approach, encouraging students to take creative risks.
Bio: Lesley Lloyd
Lesley Lloyd started potting in the early 1970s while living in Australia. Upon her return to her hometown of Williams Lake, BC in 1973, she was keen to continue developing her practice. Over thirty years later Lesley is one of the best-known potters in the north, combining innovative elements such as horse hair into the design of her unique pots. Lesley has taught pottery for children at Island Mountain Arts for almost twenty years.
Bio: Keith Langergraber
Keith Langergraber grew up in Kelowna, B.C. and received his B.F.A. from the University of Victoria and an M.F.A. from the University of British Columbia. He has been exhibiting his installation work in galleries in Canada and the United States since 1995 and has made numerous presentations related to his artwork and research. He currently teaches at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
