Digital Camera - Advanced for Amateurs with Carl Anderson, July 13, 2008

Advanced Digital Photography Skills for Amateurs
Sunday, July 13

Instructor: Carl Anderson

Early Bird Fee: $97 + GST (if paid by June 15th)
Regular Fee: $115 + GST

(Assumes some familiarity with items in the 1st course )

This course assumes that participants have some basic skills with their digital cameras (i.e. the stuff covered in Basic Skill for the Beginner above) but you don’t have to have done the beginner course first.   We will look at how to improve your use of your camera – accessories that help, not hinder, light metering and colour balancing.  Principles of composition will be introduced and your sample shots will be reviewed.   We will review lighting suggestions, shoot Black & White,  macro and low light situations.  As well we will cover post processing your photos – using a computer to do photo touch up.  If you have a portable computer please bring it as it is always more fun to do your own “fix’n” rather than watch somebody do it at the front of the room!
Still not too TECHNICAL!  And still no computer degree needed.  However a lot of “advanced technique” involves more understanding of your camera and uses a computer to manipulate what you have shot (even if it is just prep for printing!)

Carl Anderson was born in Grand Forks, and lives in Vancouver. Initially pursuing a technical career in Physics and Electronics, his life changed when he went blind at age 37. Lucky enough to regain his sight, Carl also gained insight, feeling the need to touch and see the reality around him. His photographic work is about sight and how the simple things you see in everyday life can be special, unique, full of wonder, yet are routinely bypassed.
