WELLS, BRITISH COLUMBIA… BC Day Long Weekend (Aug 4 – 7), 2006 will bring the rapidly growing, 3rd Annual Artswells Festival of All Things Art to the historic mountain hamlet of Wells, British Columbia.

Working towards being the largest Indy arts festival in BC, last year’s event featured over 80 nationally recognized performing and visual artists who traveled to Wells from across the province, country and the globe to take part in four days of performances with over 42 groups in performance, musical, literary and visual arts and 25 workshops in all sort of artistic practices. The event attracted over 500 festivalgoers from throughout the region who became active participants in the many workshops, the 6th Annual International One Minute Play Festival and the many and varied live performances.

This summer’s festival will include a similar dazzling array of talent with performances by the likes of blues guitar virtuoso, Ken Hamm; folk genius formally of the Juno-winning Waillin’ Jennys, Cara Luft; upbeat country crooner, Rae Spoon; country rocker, Rodney Decroo, rockabilly queen Linda McRae; former front man for the Grapes of Wrath, Kevin Kane; explosive dance band MamaGuroove; spoken word rhymer Corwin Fox; magical songstress, Sarah Metzner; lyrical master on the mic, Kia Kadiri; powerful folk singer, Melisa Devost; the sweet sounding, Yael Wand; radical folk man, Joey Only; and the thoughtful tunes of David Roy Parsons, ambient folk artists, Buttless Chaps;appalachian bluegrass duo, Shiftless Rounders; hardcore sweet folk, Tamara Nile; high powered hip hop, Versus; Prince George Folk Superstars, D Trevlon; absurdist pop, Wax Mannequin; Montreal rap sensation, OK Cobra; Joey Balducchi and off the roof fiddlers, Jamie RT to name just a few from the line-up.

The festival will also feature the 7th Annual International One Minute Play Festival where all aspiring entertainers are welcome to perform anything in one minute for cash prizes. This along with a host of great workshops, an ArtWalk of art exhbihitions around the town with Marie Nagel, Joan BeckThe International ’Provincial Spirit  Apron’ Exhibition, Amazing Space Studio works, John Osborne and more...,  jugglers, dancers, as well as, fun stuff for kids, discounts to local attractions like BC’s largest heritage site, Barkerville Historic Town and great access to hiking and canoeing.
