Explore the Digital Difference! Go beyond “the snapshot” get to know you camera and understand how to make the most of your camera. We will cover some of the advantages of a digital camera can give you ( excellent night shots, developing an “eye” ). Then look at some of its key differences to a film camera, ( Did you know all colour is not the same? Or that your photo aspect ratio is probably not 4 X 6?. ) and show a number of ways to improve your shots ( handling “lag”, getting more in focus “depth” ). Finally we will review a bit of “computer work” - a major advantage of the digital realm ( You can stop sending the one photo, 5 megabyte, emails that should be one tenth that size or do some simple fixes to “ruined” photos.)
NONE TECHNICAL. No computer degree needed. No digital camera necessary (and you will get lots of ideas of what to look for when you do buy one) but you may have to line up to use the ones I bring.
Carl Anderson was born in Grand Forks, and lives in Vancouver. Initially pursuing a technical career in Physics and Electronics, his life changed when he went blind at age 37. Lucky enough to regain his sight, Carl also gained insight, feeling the need to touch and see the reality around him. His photographic work is about sight and how the simple things you see in everyday life can be special, unique, full of wonder, yet are routinely bypassed.
