Island Mountain Arts Public Gallery Call for Submissions for 2011

Island Mountain Arts is a non-profit society that promotes the literary, visual and performing arts through workshops, concerts, slide shows, talks and a public Art Gallery. Formed in 1977, IMA is located in the vibrant town of Wells, near historic Barkerville, in British Columbia’s Central Interior Cariboo Mountains.

IMA’s gallery is the ideal space to exhibit many types of media. This professional yet intimate gallery space is 82 linear feet and has 12-foot high ceilings. The gallery makes use of natural light that floods in through huge storefront windows, and can also adapt for floodlights and spotlights instead of sunlight.

Exhibition Proposals must be received by April 15, 2010 and must include the following:

1) ARTIST INFORMATION:

Name, phone number, email address, mailing address.

2) 10 – 12 CLEAR DIGITAL IMAGES (.jpg) ON CD OR 10 – 12 CLEAR SLIDES:

The images will represent the type of work proposed for exhibit and at least four images will be specific works to be exhibited at Island Mountain Arts.

3) SLIDE LIST:

This will detail the name, size of work, the year it was done and the medium.

4) DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED EXHIBITION:

This is an opportunity for the artist to describe the collection of works they wish to exhibit, motivation behind grouping these specific pieces and how they fit together.

5) ARTIST STATEMENT:

This is a statement outlining artistic motivations, interests and techniques. We ask the artist to provide insight into their work and their life as a professional artist by giving a slide show or an artist’s talk at their opening

6) CURRICULUM VITAE:

Biographical information or resume highlighting professional, educational and relevant facts.

7) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DISPLAY:

This is for the return of your proposal. (Do not send original material. Please keep a copy of proposal submitted. Please make sure you have sufficient postage for safe return).

The gallery committee will review all proposals submitted. Preferred method of response is via email.
Island Mountain Arts has a budget to pay a small honorarium and contribute to transportation costs.
