Course Description:
Bio:
Dave Bidini is the only Canadian to have been nominated for both a Gemini, Genie and Juno as well CBC’s Canada Reads. He is a respected musician and has made a terrific name for himself as a writer with the success of his books The Best Game You Can Name, Baseballissimo, On a Cold Road, and Tropic of Hockey. Bidini wrote and hosted the Gemini Award-winning small-screen adaptation of Tropic of Hockey, called Hockey Nomad, which was first broadcast in January, 2003. His most recent book is Writing Gordon Lightfoot.
BIDINIBAND features Dave Bidini, Don Kerr, Paul Linklater and Doug Friesen. The band’s work includes the critically-acclaimed Land Is Wild and the just-released In The Rock Hall.
Special Events included with Tuition:~Monday, July 30, 7pm: Student Welcome Reception, IMA Gallery (2323 Pooley Street) - Meet your instructor and pick up your student information packages.~Tuesday, July 31, 7pm: Student BBQ, IMA Gallery, free for students ~Wednesday, Aug 1, 7:30pm: Concert - Bidiniband, Rae Spoon Sunset Theatre, $20, free for students ~Friday, Aug 3, 6pm: ArtsWells Festival Opening - $10, free for students The ArtsWells Festival Of All Things Art runs from Friday, August 3 – Monday, August 6, 2012 and features over 90 musical acts on 9 stages throughout Wells and Barkerville, plus workshops, an ArtWalk, the One Minute Play Festival and fun stuff for kids. See www.artswells.com for details. Consider sticking around after your workshop!IMA students also receive free admission to Barkerville Historic Town and many discounts to local businesses.
Island Mountain Arts School Policies
- Registration: A (non refundable) deposit is payable upon registration. Final payment is due no later than seven days before a course begins. Please add 12% HST to adult courses.
- The registration deadline is two weeks before class start. Registrations will be taken after that date, space permitting.
- Refund: There are no refunds on course deposits. If full payment has been made, and a student withdraws from a course, 75% of the workshop fee will be refunded. Note - there are no refunds the final week before classes begin.
- Cancellation Policy: If Island Mountain Arts cancels a course due to insufficient registration, the entire fee will be refunded. Cancellation decisions are made two weeks before course start.
