INTERMEDIATE HARP COURSE
This course will use the threefold  "Body-Mind-Spirit" approach, working on the various physical, mental and creative aspects of playing the harp.
-Learn exercises for tone, phasing, stabilizing rhythm and leaving space between the notes.
-Practice skills to increase your comfort level, using musical safety-nets, exit points and other strategies that will make you a more confident performer.
-Develop creativity in your arrangements, using simple patterns, chord vamps, sound effects and other "playful" techniques that will add spark to your music.
Level description:
This course is for intermediate harpists who have solid 2-hand technique and basic knowledge of rhythm and chord structure. Ability to read music is not required but the worksheets will be in treble clef and class tunes are on lead sheets (treble clef w/chord symbols). The focus will not be on learning new tunes but more on how to improve your playing and connect with the music. The course content is designed to be challenging, but with a gentle pace and holistic approach.

Bio
Kim Robertson’s name has become synonymous with the gentle but powerfully evocative Celtic harp ... an instrument which for a thousand years held within its strings and wood the spiritual heartbeat and poetic breath of the Celtic race. Her ability to reach into its strings and pull from it these hidden treasures has made her one of the most popular harpists performing today.
As a pioneer in the American folk harp movement, her original compositions and arrangements of traditional Celtic music have stretched the boundaries of the harp for a new generation of performers. Combining innovative techniques with a passionate sense of tradition, she brings a modern touch to a centuries’ old instrument.

Born in Wisconsin and classically trained on piano and orchestral harp, Kim’s discovery of the Celtic harp in the mid-70’s grew into a profound love for the instrument, setting her upon the path of exploration for which she is now widely known. A renowned performer and instructor, her work encompasses over 20 album projects, 11 volumes of harp arrangements, three instructional videos and an international itinerary of concerts and retreats.
