Course Description:
Course Description:
This 4-day course is designed specifically for elementary school teachers who want their primary or intermediate students to go beyond ‘making a picture’. Joyce and Marguerite have teamed up to develop projects for teachers to take back to their classrooms. In the 4 days you will sketch, draw, colour, paint and ‘build’, using materials readily available to every elementary teacher. The projects will focus on the elements of art, art history, Canadian art and artists, and thematic art. Teachers will return home with a minimum of 8 exciting projects.
Events included in you tuition:
Friday, July 16, 7pm - Welcome Reception and Opening reception for the latest exhibition at the IMA Gallery. Meet your instructors and fellow students and recieve your student package.
Saturday, July 17, 5:30pm - Student BBQ - Enjoy a delicious burger on the porch of the IMA Gallery; vegetarian options available. At 7pm stay around the gallery for an Artist Talk by John Freeman (mentor at the concurrently running Toni Onley Artists Project).
Sunday, July 18, 7pm - Artist Talk with noted print maker and conceptual artist Lyndal Osborne (also a mentor at the Artists’ Project)
Students also recieve free admission to Barkerville Historic Town and discounts at many local bussinesses.

Marguerite Hall
Marguerite is a long-time resident of the Cariboo. She lived in Wells for 13 years and currently makes her home in Quesnel, where she teaches elementary school. Over the years Marguerite has taught art to students in grades 2 to 7. Stated simply, art is her favourite subject! Her students have completed projects using pencil, pen, charcoal, pastel, pencil crayon, acrylics, collage and papier maché. Her philosophy is “there’s an artist in every child”.
Marguerite fills her free time with a variety of artistic pursuits. At the top of her list is stained glass, but she also draws, sews, paints and does woodwork and calligraphy. She loves the creative process and is excited to be able to share her passion with fellow teachers.
