Course Description
-playing back-up (accompanying other instruments & voice -2-hand patterns, rhythmic chords, etc)
-improvisation & composing (learning more creative ways to use the harp, and to expand arrangements)
-musical artistry-(techniques to enhance tone, phrasing , velocity, etc)
-performance skills- (for increasing comfort zone under pressure - musical safety nets, exit points, helpful on-stage strategies, etc.)
-ethnic explorations- (leaving the Western harmonic map to explore the modes & rhythms of various cultures, exotic sounds, etc )
-arranging tune-ups -(students are invited to bring one of their own "tired" arrangements for an ’extreme makeover’)
Bio: Born in Wisconsin and classically trained on piano and orchestral harp, Kim Robertson’s discovery of the Celtic harp in the mid-70s grew into a profound love for the instrument, setting her upon the path of exploration for which she is now widely known. A renowned performer and instructor, her work encompasses over 20 album projects, 11 volumes of harp arrangements, three instructional videos and an international itinerary of concerts and retreats. Kim has been an incredible inspiration for the harpists she has taught, including the likes of Lori Pappajohn and Sharlene Wallace who met Kim many years ago at the Celtic Harp School in Wells. August 13, 6pm dinner, 7:30pm concert - Dinner and Sunset Theater Harp Concert:
Extra tickets can be purchased for the dinner and concert for $40, $25 for concert only.
August 14 - Afternoon Outing: Enjoy a trip to Barkerville and theatre performance at the Theatre Royal.
August 16, 6pm - Final Night Ceilidh and Potluck Party: A chance for students and instructors to perform.
